When we launched Eto Rides in Bankura, we set a quiet internal goal: 1,000 clean rides before we told anyone about it. We wanted to earn the milestone, not announce it. This month, we crossed it — and we're ready to share what we found on the other side.
The Numbers
Over our first thousand rides, Eto Rides captains collectively drove approximately 7,200 kilometres on electric power. Had those same kilometres been covered by petrol autos, they would have emitted an estimated 1.08 tonnes of CO₂. Instead: zero tailpipe emissions. Every kilometre we cover adds to a running total visible on our Green Initiative page — because accountability matters.
What Passengers Told Us
Our in-app rating average across the first 1,000 rides was 4.7 out of 5. The most common feedback: "quieter than expected", "captain was very professional", and — our favourite — "I didn't realise it was electric until the captain told me." That last one tells us we're succeeding: the best clean technology is the kind passengers don't even notice.
Where We're Going
Ride 1,000 is not an endpoint. It's the proof of concept. Eto Rides is now expanding its captain network across Bankura and planning to open in two additional districts in West Bengal before the end of 2026. We're also working with local government partners to identify public charging infrastructure that can support the growing fleet.
To every captain who completed a ride, every passenger who booked one, and every person who told a friend about Eto Rides — thank you. The next 1,000 are already underway.
